This post is not directed at anyone or any body and I dont claim the correctness of my statements as I myself am a victim of this.
NO......its not some fatal invisible half dead organism neither a computer jargon whose antivirus definitions needs to be incessantly
updated but a class, a state, an individual (my hostelmates will
agree!) assuming the proportions of no less than a stereotype
associated with peculiar type of hostel residents. Yes...... its
literally a lethal diseased state that is highly contagious with
the medium of transmission being the LAN and its softwares like
ODC. Consistent with the definition requiring it to hijack the
host's biological machinery to replicate itself , this 'virus'
here emulates the same by occupying the corner most(farthest)
rooms in the hostel and thereafter spreading its tentacles over
the whole wing. These people promptly assume the whole universe
(especially the profs.) to be conspiring against them in a bid to
scathe their talents and knowledge. No they are not renegades nor
rebels.....they just belong to other planets. No course ,no lab or
no prof. can transcend their boundaries of brickbats, nothing new
in the campus can ever trespass without their knowledge,that they
are the devil advocates is grossly understated.Coming back to their
interests we come to their lifeline - PC. Well no terrible disease,savaging cold or heat, scorching summers or flooding monsoons can
diminish their love for each other.And when the machine shows signs
of fatigue its as if their life has come to a standstill, that they
become crippled desperately seeking for normality. If the PC is
their life then the LAN(ODC) is the heartbeat.Ask them about the
movies,series,games, wallpapers,videos etc available on the lan and
I bet they would enumerate it faster than even a google search.That
they regularly scrutiny every new added item on the ODC and hunt it
down to its parent folder is no less a reason for them all being
spectacled. Talking of one activity that keeps them engrossed night
and night I land up enlisting three series - Smallville,Lost,
Heroes.Its as if the words 'naya episode aaya kya' is all in their
dictionary.Movies too add up to their daily entertainment dose.
Perhaps being less skeptical I enter into the realm of their studies.No surprise these guys end up having terribly high GPA's. Maybe they validate the prophecy that every state of existence has its share of good and the evil.What can I say about their approach since they hardly show faces during the exams. Another dimension is their involvement in so called 'poltu'.........rest of the article will be updated soon.
